Gynecologist and IVF Specialist in Noida
One of the most common questions I get as an IVF specialist is about strict bed rest after embryo transfer.The answer is: 'NO', complete bed rest is not required.
After an embryo transfer, the embryo does not “fall out” or move around with normal activity. The uterus is a closed, secure space and gentle routine movements do not affect implantation.
You can walk normally
Light daily activities are safe
You can use the washroom, climb stairs slowly, and move around the house
However, I usually advise patients to:
* Avoid heavy lifting
* Avoid intense workouts or running
* Avoid high-impact activities
* Minimize stress as much as possible
Think of this phase as “calm activity” rather than strict rest.”
Excessive bed rest may actually increase anxiety and stiffness. Staying relaxed, hydrated, and emotionally positive is far more important. Every IVF journey is unique, always follow the personalized advice given by your fertility specialist.
